What's a podcast?

Podcasting means "broadcasting to iPods," but you don't need an iPod to make use of it. A podcast is like a radio show that you can listen to at your convenience, either at your computer or on a portable mp3 player (like an iPod). Subscribing to podcasts is a handy way of keeping up with audio programming without having to worry about scheduling.

In order to subscribe to a podcast, you need a piece of software called a podcast receiver. Some popular options include iTunes and Juice—do a web search for "podcast receiver" to find one that is best suited to your computer. After you install it and set one of these programs up on your computer, it will automatically download subscribed podcasts to your computer as they become available.

If you have podcasting software already installed and would like to subscribe to any of the poetryfoundation.org's podcast, copy and paste this URL after its name in the list below into your podcasting program, or subscribe to any of our podcasts on the poetryfoundation.org homepage on iTunes:
