Marcie R. Rendon

Poet and playwright Marcie R. Rendon is an enrolled member of the White Earth (Anishinaabe) Nation. Her many plays include Neurotica (2004), which was scripted in collaboration with theater students at Haskell Indian College; Predator/Prey (2004); Sacajawea (2003); Rough Face Girl (2001); Urban Rez (2000); and Songcatcher (1998). Her books for children include The Farmer’s Market/Families Working Together (2001) and PowWow Summer (1996, 2013). 

Rendon’s poetry has been published in anthologies such as Sister Nations: Native American Women Writers on Community (2002) and Nitaawichige: Selected Poetry and Prose by Four Anishinaabe Writers (2002), among others. She is the recipient of an Inroads Writers of Color Award for Native Americans from The Loft Literary Center, a Leadership in Neighborhoods Grant, and a Jerome Fellowship from the Playwrights’ Center.
