But the key question is still, after all these years, what is the mainstream? Or rather, can we kill that word? I mean that. What is it? The bitter arguments over at Steve Evans' Third Factory some years ago over Fence magazine were edifying and helpful in this regard, but that was a while back. I agree that it's shocking that at least two separate streams exist in the poetry world (I think it's many, many more than two; a tenured Josh Clover is one thing; Mark Nowak, a whole other story).
