		<description>I&#039;ve often thought about how our first poems are an originating impulse that never goes away--Whitman&#039;s &quot;procreant urge&quot; that is ignited and simmers until we want to recreate the experience again. So writing poems is like the first taste of a mango, of its juice dripping down your arm. The notion that writing poetry is a secret act makes it even more like sex, something we need to repress that keeps busting out.....
