My son and I met Vivek in Chicago, where he read, and a great reading it was--a wonderful man to be around and a fabulous presenter. (Brooks, my son, who lives in Chicago, got to spend some quality time with him the following day ("One of the nicest and scary-smart poets I've ever met," is how he put it).
Great interview, and thanks to Alan and Vivek for it. I second Don's comment on Universal Beach. And suggest, for what it's worth, that Vivek be invited, sooner than later, to blog on Harriet. A wonderful opportunity to learn more about the poetry of India (though Vivek might also have some insights to offer us about our own!) and to begin more actively connecting U.S. and Indian poets...

Thanks from me, too, and a big hello to you, Vivek!
I urge the curious to pick up Universal Beach, which is marvelous book - and I can't wait to see the new one when it comes out. We were lucky to have Vivek here in the US for a while this summer, and we must find a way to get him back again before long.
