Hey All , Forrest you must know that Bob's Mama used to say that Bob was" always loose with the truth". Now that's a heavy thing for a Mama to say. I'd really not agree with her. The question is more - what level/depth of truth are we about here?
Adamson does not swim, ever. I do. Nor does he often take swimmers out on the boat.
Birders always. Peter O'Leary you have to find his way here , that's another truth.
Generally who ever goes out in the boat with us does return , unharmed by anything from the sea or air. We can guarantee a safe passage , if never an uneventful one.
As for Peter and Kate , they were sailing a good ship of their own, from one house to another , when last we heard. It's just the vastness, the deep water and the tidal endlessness Forrest , which gives a miasma like mist to our adventures n'est pas?

Hey Peter, Devin wrote and suggested Juno meant Peter Minter and the wonderful Kate Fagan. But now I'm wondering if it might have been a couple of poets we'll never hear from again. Juno never said they got back into the boat. What IS down there, Bob?

Hello Forrest/
I envy that trip to see Bob Adamson & the Hawkesbury, so real in my imagination from repeatedly riding across it in Bob's incredible poems. But I've never been there; never been to Australia. (Not yet!) I'm guessing Juno was thinking of Devin Johnston & his wife Andrea Dunn when she thought of my name. (Devin has a terrific poem dedicated to Bob in his book Aversions.
The Golden Bird is one of the great books of poetry published in the past year - truly essential for anyone who cares about the fate of the poetry of the open field.
(Hello, Bob! If you happen to read this...)
Warm regards,
Peter
