<description>Of all the remixes I&#039;ve listened to so far, none has been a more effective improvement on the original than the version I got to see on inauguration day.
It was simple: the original poem, played out of a large television into a bar full of cringing people who had come to see the ceremony, but who hadn&#039;t had the foresight to settle up by the end of the inaugural address. The addition of plentiful disbelieving laughter, frustrated groans, and occasional shocked silences from the semi-captive audience added a touching human element to the otherwise bloodless affair.
What the avant-garde really needs now is a version of American Idol for poets.
