Maybe this is why Plato didn&#039;t trust poets.  

If &#039;how we say it&#039; is the essence of poetry, and &#039;how we say it&#039; distorts the truth, was Socrates not on to something when he said, &quot;whoa, let&#039;s examine this a little bit&quot;?

The poets&#039; knee-jerk reaction is usually, &quot;politicians are not poets!! We are the poets, and we are good, if not harmless.&quot;

Well, not quite...

Politics is about persuasion...and so is poetry...
