Kay Ryan Recovering After Bicycle Accident

By Harriet Staff

We’re wishing Kay Ryan a speedy recovery after a bike accident with a car over the weekend. As the Marin News reports:

Former U.S. Poet Laureate Kay Ryan was recovering in a Marin rehabilitation hospital on Saturday from injuries suffered while riding her bicycle near her home in Fairfax.

The Pulitzer Prize winner has a fractured hip socket, broken ribs, one of which punctured a lung, a broken clavicle and a head injury.

The 68-year-old poet and educator was riding her bicycle on the morning of Jan. 13 when she and a car collided on Broadway in downtown Fairfax, just east of Bolinas Road, police reported. The crash is under investigation.

Get well soon, Kay!
