Some Hot Action at Action Books
Not so much publishing as UNLEASHING, yesterday Action Books announced via Montevidayo the availability of four new titles hot off the press. Included in the latest horde is Wet Land by Lucas de Lima, Sorrowtoothpaste Mirrorcream by Kim Hyesoon (trans. Don Mee Choi), Only Jesus Could Icefish in Summer by Abraham Smith, and Rain of the Future by Valerie Mejer (various translators). We’re eager to get our hands on all these titles, but the last title has so many great poets attached to it we thought it worth special mention. As far as we can tell this is the only work by Mejer readily available in English translation, edited by C.D. Wright, and with a forward by Raúl Zurita (trans. by Sarah Denaci and Forrest Gander). The book contains the original Spanish with translations by Forrest Gander, C.D. Wright, and A.S. Zelman-Doring. It looks like Publishers Weekly is also thrilled with the book. You can sample a few poems from Rain of the Future here. And be sure to have a gander at other offerings from Action Books. Enjoy!
