Letter from Poetry Magazine

Letter to the Editor

by C.P. Mangel

Dear Editor,

The essays by Christian Wiman ["Mastery and Mystery"] and C.K. Williams [“Nature and Panic”] in the October issue are alone worth the cost of my subscription—luminous brilliance, unsurpassed.

I have not read such sublime and accessible essays on poetry in a very long time, and I will most surely use these essays for teaching.

Some of the sentences are so beautiful, so full of clarity and veracity
that they both overwhelm and comfort me.
