Poetry less dense than fruitcake, still just as bad

By Harriet Staff

Thanks to the ease of changing an article's headline online, sometimes editors leave traces of their true feelings in the URL. Tampa Bay Online brings us a sublimely terrible collection of fruitcake-inspired haiku entered in this year's Mrs. Harvey's White Fruitcake Haiku Contest. Entitled, upon first glance, "Fruitcake inspires poets from Tampa to Utah to Malta," a look at the address bar reveals that that was probably preceded at one point by "For better or for worse..." Thankfully when the subject is fruitcake, "worse" poetry at least fits the theme. As Ray D. Horner of Tampa put it:

Stop Fruitcake Haiku
Please don't bother me again
Limericks next year?
