About Harriet

National Poetry Month

By Harriet Staff

Last April, we invited poets, editors, publishers and translators from Harriet’s past to contribute to a National Poetry Month discussion on the state of the art. That month of posts was one of the most insightful, provocative, and, above all, supremely engaging months we have ever had on the blog, and so this month, we’re excited to begin our second annual National Poetry Month conversation here at Harriet. This year, we’ve invited a similar group of writers back—adding a few of our “Craft Work” and “Open Door” contributors to the mix—and we’ve asked them to focus on the whats, whens, wheres, and whys of their writing and performing lives. It’s sure to be a lively community event, and we’re pleased to welcome the following writers:

Anselm Berrigan, A.E. Stallings, Alan Gilbert, Ada Limon, Amber Tamblyn, Ange Mlinko, Barbara Jane Reyes, Bhanu Kapil, Brian Turner, Christian Bök, Daisy Fried, Douglas Kearney, Eileen Myles, Edwin Torres, Emily Warn, Gillian Conoley, Javier Huerta, Jeffrey McDaniel, Kathleen Rooney, Kenneth Goldsmith, Kwame Dawes, Lavinia Greenlaw, Melissa Friedling, Major Jackson, Mark Nowak, Martin Earl, Patricia Smith, Rigoberto Gonzaléz, Rachel Zucker, Stephen Burt, Sina Queyras, Thom Donovan, and Wanda Coleman.

Be sure to check back in here for daily updates from this great group of bloggers, or better yet, sign up for the Harriet RSS feed. The Poetry Foundation Twitter feed (@poetryfound) will be keeping up with the poetry news in lieu of Harriet‘s regular updates, so newshounds can follow along there.
