It’s Time to Listen to Poetry Time

By Harriet Staff

New York’s infamous Poetry Time at Space Space reading series—hosted by the inimitable team of Ben Gocker, Lucy Ives, and Brandon Downing—recently put the cap on its three-year run with a mega reading called Juneral (yes, a funeral in June!), saddening hundreds of poets in love with traveling every month to the generous artist space in Ridgewood, Queens (in all kinds of weather) to take in a film by Downing (Lassie!! Nooo) + garbage can of beer + incredible readings by the likes of Lisa Robertson (seen in the image above), Eileen Myles, Christian Hawkey, Macgregor Card, Timothy Donnelly, Dara Wier, CAConrad, Matvei Yankelevich, Natalie Lyalin, Franklin Bruno, Rebecca Wolff, Dana Ward, Aaron Kunin, Catherine Wagner, and heaps of others young, old, and stoned. However! The readings will continue to overjoy you. Most of them were recorded, with thanks going to sound fella Chris Pulakos, who has archived the series over at Poetry Time Archive. Browse around, give an earful to Gocker’s best-selling introductions, and definitely go for the Juneral, which took in as many alums as it could fit behind a vintage typewriter desk and brass lamp. We will miss you terribly, Poetry Time, and look forward to your next incarnation. . . .
