Intro to Poetry, Pr. Lindsay, 9am MWF, Room: A Live Oak

Here's an interesting Sun Herald article about a 500 year old live oak on Southern Mississippi's campus. Her name is Friendship. Her babies are going to be planted in places hit by Katrina. And, at one point in time:

The Friendship name is linked to Gulf Park College for Women, opened on the site in 1921. One popular story is that poet Vachel Lindsey taught classes in the tree. The teaching and contemplation platform, nestled between the biggest branches, has often been a victim of hurricanes, with Katrina no exception. It hasn't yet been rebuilt as USM puts the campus back together again.
