Starting Today! Cecilia K. Corrigan, Lisa Robertson & Marcus Boon at the Lake Forest Literary Festival

By Harriet Staff

If you're near Chicago, you must be aware of the ninth-annual Lake Forest Literary Festival, taking place from Tuesday (today!), March 5 through Wednesday (tomorrow!), March 6, 2013, sponsored by Lake Forest College and &Now Books/&Now Festival. This year's festival features critic Marcus Boon, and poets Cecilia K. Corrigan and Lisa Robertson. Robertson chose Corrigan as "the winner of the 2012-2013 Madeleine P. Plonsker Emerging Writers Residency and Book Prize for her manuscript-in-progress Titanic, a collection of poems exploring the sublime and ridiculous dimensions of pop narrative (her title refers much more closely to James Cameron’s 1997 film than to the historical maritime disaster)." Corrigan will read tonight--with an introduction from Robertson--and give a talk on her experiences writing for the HBO show Luck. Marcus Boon will give a lecture today, and Robertson is reading tomorrow evening. The full schedule is below, and more info can be found at their Facebook event page. Wish we could be there!

Tuesday, March 5 4:00 – 5:15 pm Lecture by Marcus Boon: “Meditations in an Emergency: On the Destruction of My MP3 Collection.”

Tuesday, March 5, 7:30 – 9 :15 pm Reading by Cecilia Corrigan, with an introduction by Lisa Robertson.

Wednesday, March 6 4:00 – 5:00 pm Talk by Cecilia Corrigan on Intersections in Poetry and Television

Wednesday, March 6 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. Reading by Lisa Robertson
