Tuesday June 4! Set Your Sights on 10 Emerging Poets at Poets House

By Harriet Staff

Jen Bervin is hosting the Emerging Poets Fellowship Reading at Poets House next Tuesday--sounds like a fun time and a good way to introduce yourselves to some new and very talented writers (especially if the faculty they've been working with has had any effect whatsoe'er--nice lineup there, too). The reading details:

Tuesday, June 4, 7:00PM
Emerging Poets Fellowship Reading Hosted by Jen Bervin

Admission free

A reading by the 10 poets in Poets House’s second annual Emerging Poets Fellowship program: Mahogany Browne, Jessica Elsaesser, Paul Hlava, Rosamond King, Elsbeth Pancrazi, Montana Ray, Andrew Seguin, Xeňa Stanislavovna Semjonová, Purvi Shah and Ocean Vuong.

Funded by a generous grant from the Jerome Foundation, this program assists emerging poets by providing excellent poetry writing instruction and mentoring in the special environment of Poets House's library—with its unique archives and access to far-reaching programs and conversations with poets and poetry audiences. The program aims to deepen participants' artistic practice by offering a robust professional network of poets and literary professionals, including special visits from editors and publishers, who will assist each writer with their artistic development and career.

The 2013 Emerging Poets Fellowship workshop is taught by poet and teacher Jen Bervin. Distinguished Visiting Faculty include CAConrad, Cornelius Eady, Ben Lerner, Evie Shockley and Jean Valentine.

More info on and work from each fellow can be found here.
