Hear Ye, Hear Ye! The Fence Books Ottoline Morrell Prize Is Now Accepting Submissions

By Harriet Staff

NPG x14149; Lady Ottoline Morrell by Cecil Beaton

Behold! All hail Lady Ottoline: beloved unsung patron of the Bloomsbury Group!

Ahem. Erm… what we meant to say was, that the uh, world-renowned publisher of contemporary poetry and fiction, Fence, will read submissions for the Ottoline Morrell Prize from November 1 to November 30, 2013– the prize of which, of course, includes publication by Fence, as well as $5000.

We’re pleased to announce that the Motherwell Prize—which recently and in its earliest incarnation as the Alberta Prize has brought to light some of the brightest young poets, including Chelsey Minnis, Sasha Steensen, Laura Sims, Ariana Reines, and Harmony Holiday—has shed its skin yet again to emerge as the Ottoline Morrell Prize. All hail Lady Ottoline, beloved undersung patron of the Bloomsbury Group. The Ottoline Morrell Prize will award publication and a cash prize to a book of poems by a woman writing in English who has previously published one or more books of poetry. Ears peeled for more details.
