Jorie Graham Honored With 2017 Wallace Stevens Award
Big news in poetry today: Jorie Graham takes home the Wallace Stevens Award, which is given annually by the Academy of American Poets to honor a poet's lifetime mastery in the art. The award comes with a prize of $100,000. The Academy also recognized Ed Roberson for distinguished poetic achievement with an Academy of American Poets Fellowship; Patrick Rosal with the Lenore Marshall Poetry Prize, which recognizes the best book of 2016, for Brooklyn Antediluvian; Thomas E. Peterson with a translation award for his work on Italian poet Franco Fortini; and Sam Sax was honored for best second book of poetry for his collection Bury It.
