Yes, Interesting People Read Poetry

By Harriet Staff

If your interests include both reading poetry and interesting people, you'll want to check out a new podcast called "Interesting People Read Poetry." The weekly podcast is produced and hosted by Brendan Stermer out of Saint Paul, Minnesota and features a slew of neat folks reading a favorite poem and talking about what it means to them. First up this week is Minnesota State Representative Ilhan Omar reading Warsan Shire's “Conversations about home (at the deportation centre).” Stermer writes, "Representative Omar is the first Somali-American lawmaker in the United States. Warsan Shire is a contemporary British-Somali poet, whose work was recently featured prominently in Beyonce’s visual album, Lemonade." Give the podcast a spin and stop back next week for another installment.
