An off-shoot of our monthly Open Door Reading Series, this Rush Hour Concert features readings of original poetry composed by André Price, and CM Burroughs alongside William Albright's "Abiding Passions," performed by Quintet Attacca. 

CM Burroughs serves as assistant professor of poetry at Columbia College Chicago. Her poetry has appeared in journals including Callaloo, jubilat, Ploughshares, VOLT, Bat City Review, and Sou’westerThe Vital System is her debut collection of poetry from Tupelo Press. She is senior editor for Tupelo Quarterly and co-editor for Court Green

Andre Price attended Carnegie Mellon University and graduated with a BA in creative writing. Originally from Baltimore Maryland, he is currently pursuing a MFA in poetry at Columbia College Chicago.

    This exhibition presents photographs and ephemera from the poet Jun Fujita (1888-1963). Fujita is an English-language tanka poet who published regularly in Poetry during the 1920s. The first Japanese-American photojournalist, he is responsible for the most famous photos of the Eastland disaster, the Chicago race riots of 1919, and the St. Valentine’s Day massacre, among others. This show will explore his lesser-known landscapes.
