CHICAGO – Throughout National Poetry Month (April), the Favorite Poem Project and the Chicago-based Poetry Foundation invite Floridians from Pensacola to Key West to share their favorite classic or contemporary poem as part of Favorite Poem Project: Florida. From the Florida submissions, up to six poems will be selected for a final video mini-documentary series to air later in the year.

On April 2-3, the Poetry Foundation’s Poetry Out Loud: National Recitation Competition champions, the 2014 Class of National Student Poets, and representatives of poetry slam and spoken word organizations from around the country will convene to examine and contemplate issues around the role of poetry in youth culture.

Five Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Poetry Fellowships in the amount of $25,800 each will be awarded to young poets through a national competition sponsored by the Poetry Foundation, publisher of Poetry magazine.
