Nine student finalists representing high schools from Idaho, Louisiana, Missouri, New Jersey, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, Washington State, and West Virginia match their skills in reciting classic and contemporary poetry in a contest for the title of National Poetry Out Loud Champion and a $20,000 award. The end of National Poetry Month marks the start of the nation’s largest youth poetry recitation competition, as 53 high school students from across the country gather in Washington, DC, on April 29-30, 2014 for the National Finals of Poetry Out Loud: National Recitation Contest.
