Henri Chopin Why I Am The Author of Sound Poetry and Free Poetry” (1967)
Henri Chopin, explorer of the body’s voices (1922-2008). For the last forty years, with his sound poetry revue OU (1964-1974), then through his participation in various international sound poetry festivals, through his personal experience in the experimental studios of radio stations in Köln, Paris, Australia, Canada or Sweden and in his concert/performances throughout Europe, Henri Chopin has consistently and unceasingly opened the ways to unexplored spaces beyond all known languages. Thanks to the systematic use of microphones, amplifiers, tape recorders, editing and mixing consoles, he has given a voice to realms beyond modern or experimental music, beyond any note system and headed for spaces without norms, categories, definitions or limits: spaces of permanent metamorphosis. 1.

  2. My condolence.
But shocked. Just on the 2nd of January 2008 discovered this name for myself in the internet and was inspired with Mr. Chopin’s individuality and genius and that he is alive. And today such news on your site!
Wanted to ask him about the painting. This abstract painting named Harmony is signed Chopin ‘92.
    Was it he?…..

  3. I am so sorry to hear of Henri Chopin’s passing. I first came across his delightful work in the 60’s and, although I could not hear it again until I found out about UBUWEB two and a half years ago, it had a lasting effect on me.It was wonderful to hear his work again through UBUWEB. May the poet rest in peace – with gratitude, Stan Hansel

  7. Belated discovery that the great man has died. Survived a Nazi death march, and was inspired by it to write one of his most important early works. Still have in on vinyl, as well as some of his “Ou” collection.
He made a huge impact on my own thinking about poetry and music, and on so many others who have been more influential!
