Of all the remixes I’ve listened to so far, none has been a more effective improvement on the original than the version I got to see on inauguration day.
Posted By: Nick Salvatore on January 28, 2009 at 4:29 amIt was simple: the original poem, played out of a large television into a bar full of cringing people who had come to see the ceremony, but who hadn’t had the foresight to settle up by the end of the inaugural address. The addition of plentiful disbelieving laughter, frustrated groans, and occasional shocked silences from the semi-captive audience added a touching human element to the otherwise bloodless affair.
What the avant-garde really needs now is a version of American Idol for poets.
