Poetry inside the box
In Long Beach, Ca., there’s a new place to submit poetry: community drop boxes. According to a local business organization, the innovative idea is meant to boost business as well as consumer creativity. The boxes are affixed outside two local coffee shops, and hopefully poems by community members will eventually be published as a book.
Long Beach’s CBS2 News has more:
Blair Cohn, Bixby Knolls Business Improvement Association executive director said not only are the boxes asking people to express themselves and get creative, but the intention is to also bring people to the businesses to boost sales.
He said there are no word count guidelines and anonymous submissions will be accepted. “We want raw poetry,” said Cohn.
The boxes will be up until about 100 publish-worthy poems are collected . . .
