"Paper sculpture whodunnit solved" (well, sort of...)
A mysterious book sculptor has repeatedly delighted the people of Edinburgh (Edinburghians? Edinburghers?) with whimsical paper carvings left at cultural institutions around the city.
The first sculpture, a small tree bearing a handwritten note addressed to "@ByLeavesWeLive," was discovered at the Scottish Poetry Library in March. Most recently, librarians at the Edinburgh Central Library came across a magnifying glass (fashioned from paper, of course) bearing a line by Scottish poet Edwin Morgan: "When I go in I want it bright/I want to catch whatever is there in full sight." In between, the artist targeted the Scottish Storytelling Center, the Filmhouse, and the National Library of Scotland.
The identity of the sculptor has fueled much speculation and Twittering, but has remained unknown... until NOW. Kind of.
