Announcing "Library Boing Boing"!
The American Library Association has teamed up with Boing Boing to create a member interest group called "Library Boing Boing". From the ALA's Marginalia site:
On the one hand, Library Boing Boing is a collaboration between ALA and the fabulously amazing Boing Boing folks to highlight all of the great new things libraries are doing. The most visible result will be regular posts about those great new things on the Boing Boing site itself.
On the other hand, Library Boing Boing: The Group has its own goals to help happy mutants [a.k.a. Boing Boing readers] in local communities connect with their happy mutant librarians to do good, work together on our shared interests, and make the world more better.
The organization's goals include: brainstorming ways for Boing Boing readers to get involved with their local libraries, cooking up interesting programming for library conferences, working with Boing Boing to advance shared interests (like copyright reform, net neutrality, digital divide issues, and the like), and getting the first ever librarian speaker at the TED conference.
