How We Came to Hate Comic Sans

Since when was Comic Sans lowbrow? According to Mashable, it was used to announce one of the most highbrow discoveries in recent history: “The Higgs Boson particle, discovered in 2011, quickly became a trending topic on Twitter. The announcement was fueled because scientists at CERN revealed their findings in Comic Sans.”
But for those of us in the publishing industry, Comic Sans has become a long-running joke, inspiring hate-groups and satirical monologues. Ever wonder why everybody loved this font, then learned to hate it? Mashable has posted a history of the infamous typeface.
