On May 3 and 4 in Washington, DC, high school students from every state will test their grit and wit in the national finals of Poetry Out Loud, the nation’s largest youth poetry recitation competition. Poetry Out Loud is a partnership between the National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation that encourages high school students around the country to learn great classic and contemporary poetry through a recitation competition that culminates with the national finals.
The Poetry Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Scott Turow, world-renowned author and Chicago lawyer, to the Poetry Foundation board of trustees.
The Poetry Foundation is accepting applications for its second annual Summer Poetry Teachers Institute, to take place in Chicago, July 11-15, 2016. Participants will study and discuss poetry with expert teachers and some of today’s most compelling poets to develop lesson plans to bring back to their classrooms.
