Kick Some $$ to TEEN WOLF/TEEN WOLF TOO
Help "Kickstart" poet Jibade-Khalil Huffman's newest project! "TEEN WOLF/TEEN WOLF TOO" is already in production and slated to be performed on August 6, 2011, as part of The Brooklyn Rail-curated Writing and Performance weekend at this year's Mt. Tremper Arts Festival in upstate New York. But costs are high. Huffman is raising funds to help pay for film, film processing, videotape, recording equipment rental, travel and accommodations for his performer, and documentation costs.
"TEEN WOLF/TEEN WOLF TOO" combines theater, video, subtitles, poetry, video, photography, cassette tapes, trophies, smoke machines and the internet, using "ostensibly outmoded technologies and methods to create something new: an experience that plays with the history and conventions of cinema, writing, visual art, and music as a means of trespassing onto unconventional territory." The plot:
A lone woman, a slacker whose interests in movies and music surpass any ambition to do anything else, talks to herself, the audience and her unseen "boyfriend" (a second performer who creates a live, improvised soundtrack on cassette players and turntables), about cinema, pop songs, boredom and sex.
