“There’s going to be a play. I’m told it’s got Russians in it.”

Last week Coldfront gave us the scoop on a new collaboration between Iowa’s International Writing Program (IWP) and the Moscow Art Theatre. Yes, that's right, "theater" with the r before the e! More on this project from Nate Brown of the IWP:

How many times in your life do you get to actually say that you’re working on something that’s “groundbreaking”? I mean, that would normally sound ridiculous and overstuffed. But co-producing a live show with the Moscow Art Theatre (one of the most revered stages in Russia–and all of Europe for that matter) is just that. We’re going to do something that’s not been done before: stage a bilingual performance of new work in real time at stages that are 10 time zones apart. To say that those of us who are working on the project are excited would be an incredible understatement.

The performance includes a stellar lineup of poets: Matthew Zapruder, Dora Malech, Terrance Hayes, Quan Barry, Inga Kuznetsova, Anna Russ, Linor Goralik, and Maxim Amelin. Groundbreaking for sure!
