Former Los Angeles Laker to Sign Copies of his Book of Poetry
Here's this from Malibu Patch:
Tommy Hawkins showed his determination on the basketball court for years with the Los Angeles Lakers, and now he's exploring his creative side in a unique book of poetry.
Hawkins will sign copies and discuss his book, "Life's Reflections: Poetry for the People," at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 17 at the Malibu Senior Center at 23825 Stuart Ranch Road.
In an interview with KCAL9, Hawkins said that the book includes illustrations from his notable friends, including LeRoy Neiman, Ernie Barnes, Anatole Krasnyansky and Tim Townsley.
"When you say poetry people go to sleep," Hawkins told the television station. "... In this book of narratives you will find yourself, me, your family or your friends."
The book promises poems about his 10 years with the Los Angeles Lakers and other life experiences.
