Holly Melgard's Poems for Babies Trilogy Hits Lulu's Top 100 Books for Teens
Blink and you'll miss it: Holly Melgard's Poems for Babies series, all meant for babies, has hit the Lulu Top 100 this week in Books for Teens [our bold]. Poems for Baby Trilogy I: Colors for Baby, Poems for Baby Trilogy II: Foods for Baby, Poems for Baby Trilogy III: Shapes for Baby, are at #80, #79, and #78, respectively. What does this mean for the babies reading them? That they are teens? They grow up so fast. Do readers like shapes incrementally more than foods and colors? Who knows. Or as Melgard might ask, "How do babies manage to trigger so many reflexes? If the political category of 'labor' is a construction site, then what forms of labor go undocumented when 'articulation' is only read through single subject positions?"
