Two-Thousand Audio Cassettes From Allen Ginsberg Collection Released

Originally Published: July 24, 2017

Stanford's digital library blog reports that over 2,000 audio cassette recordings from the Allen Ginsberg archive have been released, representing "a staggering amount of primary source material associated with the Beat Generation, the bulk of which date from the 1970s to 1990s."

Once the open reel recordings and videos are completed, we'll have one of the most comprehensive recorded outputs from a single cultural figure available for the whole world to access.

The full list of items can be found here.

They start by pointing us to a tape of an afternoon conversation between Ginsberg and William Burroughs, recorded in May, 1991. Read more about the release here.
