NYT Publishes Letter to the Editor That Defends Jill Bialosky

Originally Published: October 12, 2017

Jill Bialosky has found some support as she combats recent accusations of plagiarism. In a letter to the editor published this week, Kimiko Hahn and David Baker write that "it bears saying that Ms. Bialosky’s inadvertent repetition of biographical boilerplate was not an egregious theft intentionally performed."

They then point to 70 other signatures from authors and poets who also "stand with Ms. Bialosky and her statement of apology." "She is working with the publisher on adjustments to the text, which will appear in future editions of the book. It would be a terrible disservice to Ms. Bialosky and to your readers if the article kept people from appreciating her substantial contributions to American letters," they write at the New York Times.
