Sherman Alexie Responds to Accusations of Misconduct

Poet and writer Sherman Alexie has publicly addressed recent accusations of sexual harassment leveled against him, reports the Seattle Times, in which he acknowledges that he has hurt people in the past while denying "the accusations, insinuations, and outright falsehoods" put forth by one writer in particular. Brendan Kiley and Nina Shapiro report:
The accusations that precipitated the recent firestorm appear to have first shown up publicly in anonymous comments on a Jan. 3 School Library Journal post about sexual harassment in the children’s book industry. The article did not mention Alexie by name, but the comments thread had at least five anonymous accusations, including: “Sherman Alexie. #Me too.”
On Feb. 23, author Litsa Dremousis began a long Twitter thread, writing she’d “known about the allegations against Sherman Alexie for months now” and that “by my count, there are now over 20 women who are accusing him of harassment.”
