Tongo Eisen-Martin in the Providence Journal
"A poet dies a song writer/ A society dies a thief" is a new poem/essay by Tongo Eisen-Martin, published at the Providence Journal with an introduction from Tina Cane, poet laureate of Rhode Island. "The next time I teach my workshop, Poet As Witness to History, I will include this new piece," writes Cane. From the piece:
What depresses police identity?
If you are to remain noble, you have to go looking for a white tear to work for. Capitalists stabbing good people to a different kind of death with the ceiling. You have to live in the society away from the society. The society away from the powder keg.
Where are and what of you is included?
Where are and what of you is excluded?
And what is the rationale behind your alienation?
The full piece is at the Providence Journal.
