1987

By Oliver Baez Bendorf

A round-ish, line-drawn shape appears in the center of the poem, looking like a blob. Horizontal lines of verse flank the left and right sides of the shape. Text, listed here clockwise starting in the noon position, but can be read in any direction starting from any point: “I wanted to find out / what it means to be born / not means / feels like / I came as flowers / everything that happened, happened / in 1987 / I didn’t ask to be born / Moonstruck: “it’s temporary!” / “to knoll” meant to arrange at angles / a star exploded”
