Cola Franzen

Writer and translator Cola Franzen published 15 books of translations of poetry, fiction, and criticism by notable Spanish and Latin American authors, including Tales from the Cuban Empire, by Antonio José Ponte (City Lights, 2002), Poems of Arab Andalusia (City Lights, 1989, reprinted 1995), The Challenge of Comparative Literature by Claudio Guillén (Harvard University Press, 1993), and Background Noise: Poems by Saúl Yurkievich (Catbird Press, 2003). Franzen won the PEN American Center’s 2004 Gregory Kolovakos Award.
