Roy M. Liuzza
Roy M. Liuzza is an American scholar of Old English literature. He is the editor and translator of Old English Poetry: An Anthology (Broadview Press, 2014); Anglo-Saxon Prognostics: Studies and Texts from London, British Library, MS Cotton Tiberius A.iii (D.S. Brewer, 2011), the winner of the 2013 Beatrice White Prize; and Beowulf: a new verse translation (Broadview Press, 1999). He is also a general editor, contributing author, and translator for The Broadview Anthology of British Literature I: The Medieval Period (Broadview Press, 2006).
Liuzza has held the post of Cameron Professor of Old English at the University of Toronto, which includes the special honor of editing the Dictionary of Old English, a project that began in 1968. He has received grants from the American Philosophical Society, the British Academy, and the National Endowment for the Humanities. Liuzza has lectured at Columbia University, Yale University, and the University of Toronto, among others. He earned his PhD in medieval studies from Yale University and teaches at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
