Murmuring Americas: Fall 2024 Season
they don’t get to live anymore. They say they want to love all the things
they could not love when they were alive.
The Poetry Foundation’s fall events listen for murmuring voices of the Americas against the backbeat of the US election cycle. Our season theme Murmuring Americas riffs on the title of a Chicago poet Daniel Borzutzky’s new book
The sound of a murmur might be too soft to pick up if you’re not paying attention, but it is also the noise of the heart—a sign something may be wrong. In a way, the poet’s mic is like a stethoscope—the writers taking the stage in the coming months amplify the heartbeat of the Americas, checking for vital signs and reporting on the conditions of life. What do you hear?
