Threa Almontaser (she/her) is the author of the poetry collection The Wild Fox of Yemen (Graywolf Press 2021), winner of the 2020 Walt Whitman Award from the Academy of American Poets and longlisted for the 2021 National Book Awards for Poetry. Almontaser believes writing is a form of witnessing across histories, and that poets should be using every platform possible and within their reach to advocate for the liberation of themselves and others. Her work has been supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Fulbright Program, and the Rosati Writer Program at Duke. She earned an MFA from North Carolina State University and teaches English to immigrants and refugees in Raleigh, North Carolina.
