Audre Budrys Nakas

Audrė Budrys Nakas is a theatre educator, director, writer and actor. She has been performing the poetry of Liūnė Sutema (Zinaida Nagytė Katiliškienė, 1927–2013) for decades, including at events featuring the poet herself. In 2019, she wrote a solo show As if in a Story about the life and creative work of Liūnė Sutema, and has performed it at the Theatre Cluster International Theatre Festival in Lithuania as well as the SLA Art Space in New York City and the Balzekas Museum of Lithuanian Culture in Chicago. In 2018, at the Poetry Foundation, Budrys curated and performed in No One Will Ever Love You As Much: A Glimpse into One Hundred Years of Lithuanian Poetry, an event honoring the 100th anniversary of the Lithuanian Independence Restoration Act. Budrys teaches drama and directs the middle school theatre program at the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools.
