January Gill O'Neil
January Gill O’Neil earned her BA at Old Dominion University and her MFA from New York University. She is the author of three poetry collections: Underlife (2009); Misery Islands (2014), which won a Paterson Award for Literary Excellence and the MassBooks Poetry Award from the Massachusetts Center for the Book; and Rewilding, all from CavanKerry Press. O’Neil is a Cave Canem fellow.
The executive director of the Massachusetts Poetry Festival, O’Neil is a board member of the Association of Writers and Writing Programs and poetry coeditor of the journal Solstice: A Magazine of Diverse Voices. She is currently an assistant professor of English at Salem State University and lives in Beverly, Massachusetts, with her two children.
