Julia Leverone
Julia Leverone is a poet, translator, and literary and academic editor. She is the author of the poetry collection Duo (Kelsay Books, 2023) and the chapbooks Little Escape (JMWW, 2019) and Shouldering (Finishing Line Press, 2016). Leverone translates poetry from Spanish to English, including Fuel and Fire: Selected Poems 1956-76 by Francisco Urondo (Diálogos, 2018).
Leverone earned a PhD in comparative literature from Washington University in St. Louis, an MFA in poetry from the University of Maryland at College Park, and a BA in Spanish from Tufts University.
She is an assistant professor of Spanish at West Virginia University’s Potomac State College. She is the founder and editor of AzonaL,an online magazine of poetry in translation.
