Lynne Thompson

Lynne Thompson served as Los Angeles’s 4th Poet Laureate and is the author of four collections of poetry, Blue on a Blue Palette (BOA Editions, 2024), Fretwork (Marsh Hawk Press, 2019), Start with a Small Guitar (What Books Press, 2013), and Beg No Pardon (Perugia Press, 2007). A lawyer by training, Thompson serves on the boards of the Poetry Foundation, the Los Angeles Review of Books, and her alma mater, Scripps College. She is also the current President of Cave Canem. Thompson represented Los Angeles at the Marathon Poétique at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Her recent work appears in The Best American Poetry, The Kenyon Review, Gulf Coast,Pleiades, The Georgia Review, and The Common.
