Ryan Thoresen Carson

Ryan Thoresen Carson was a poet, community organizer, and activist from Brooklyn, New York. His poetry chapbooks include Don’t Watch Me Dancing (TXTbooks, 2016) and Bullhorns in Bed (thistlemilk Press, 2015). 

In an interview with coeditor Joshua Lew McDermott from Line Rider Press, Carson said, 

People often talk about writing as building a space of one’s own to reflect, but for me, it’s much more of the commons, a place anyone can engage in. I think that to be a poet right now is to be radically vulnerable with the world, particularly those who are engaged in action, and use language to open up a space of dialogue.

Carson dedicated his efforts to both community building and the art of poetry.
