Sarah Ghazal Ali is a Pakistani American poet, editor, and educator. She is the author of Theophanies (Alice James Books, 2024), winner of the GLCA New Writers Award and the California Book Award, and a finalist for the Kate Tufts Discovery Award.
She has received fellowships and support from Hedgebrook, Kundiman, Tin House, and the Stadler Center for Poetry & Literary Arts, and is a finalist for a 2025 Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Fellowship.
Ali is the poetry editor for West Branch and an assistant professor of English at Macalester College. She earned an MFA in Poetry from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where she was a Juniper and MFA Fellow, and lives in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
