Yanara Friedland is a German-American writer, translator, and teacher. She earned a PhD from the University of Denver, and she recently completed a long walk across multiple border regions in Europe. She is the author of the novel Uncountry: A Mythology (Noemi Press, 2016), winner of the Noemi Fiction Prize, and the digital chapbook Abraq ad Habra: I will create as I speak (Essay Press, 2016). Friedland is a member of the poets’ theater group GASP: Girls Assembling Something Perpetual, and she lives in the desert of southern Arizona.
