Elaine Kahn was born in Evanston, Illinois, and she is the author of the poetry collection Women in Public (City Lights, 2015) as well as several chapbooks, most recently A Voluptuous Dream During an Eclipse (Poor Claudia) and Customer (Ecstatic Peace Library). She earned an MFA from the Iowa Writers' Workshop and a BA from California College of the Arts.

Kahn is the managing editor of Flowers & Cream, an independent publisher of limited-edition poetry books, and a founding member of the P.Splash Collective. She has musical releases with Ecstatic Peace, Night People, and Hot Releases. Recent writing has appeared in It's Night in San Francisco but it's Sunny in Oakland, The Poetry Project Newsletter, and Art Papers. She currently lives in Oakland, California
